MARY
SCHWEITZER SCHOLARSHIP
for
Excellence in Anthropology
The
scholarship welcomes applications from promising students of Anthropology
Department at AUCA. The aim of this scholarship is to support students who show
commitment to and excellence in anthropology.
The scholarship has been established
in 2010 by anthropology alumni’05 in honor of Professor Mary Schweitzer in
consideration of all she did for the benefit of anthropology at AUCA and her
ongoing commitment to the future of her former students. Mary Schweitzer is a
US-based Professor of Anthropology and she taught anthropology at AUCA from
2002 to 2003 and from 2004-2005.
Eligibility
Students
entering the second, third or fourth year of a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in the Department
of Anthropology at AUCA are welcome to apply. Applicants must be citizens
of Kyrgyzstan and can be of any nationality. Last year's winners are NOT
eligible to apply this year.
Award amount and type
This year, the scholarship fund
raised $2000. Scholarships will be awarded depending on the quality of
applications. Award ceremony will take place on the 20th of
November, 2014. Winners will be notified about the venue of the award.

Application
assessment
Mary Schweitzer Scholarship
undertakes a detailed qualitative assessment according to the following criteria:
- Academic excellence (students with relative higher GPA
will be given preferences)
- Commitment to anthropology
- Financial need
